Bison meat has a delicious sweet and rich flavor and is tender like beef. It has no gamy flavor, is chemical free and contains more iron and protein than beef.
Exceptionally high in protein and minerals, bison is low in fat, calories and cholesterol. Ounce for ounce bison has only about 1/4 of the fat beef has, and is more unsaturated than beef. Buffalo is a dense meat that tends to satisfy you more while eating less.
Buffalo is high in protein, iron, selenium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, potassium, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamins B6 and B12. Potassium helps in lowering blood pressure and iron is necessary for hemoglobin formation and prevention of anemia. Bison has three times more iron than chicken or pork.
In addition to having fewer calories, less fat and less cholesterol, there are no growth hormones, steroids, or sub-therapeutic antibiotics. In fact Bison has 1/2 the calories of chicken or pork and is a low source of sodium which is associated with hypertension.
Bison is a natural choice for dieters, athletes and health conscious red meat lovers which now have some tasty and healthy alternatives.
